An exhibition of 20 photographs of an Ireland well known to us: Dublin, County Wicklow and its mountains, Dunmore East, and West Clare. Despite their familiarity they are places where I as the photographer sought be alone, where solitude allowed me to re-look at the ordinary, behind the layer of human interaction.
Ireland is painted by weather and light, often isolated yet overlaid by the marks of human activity. Just as we explore ancient monuments and speculate about their creators, we can ask what our own landscape would say about us when the personalities are nowhere to be seen, or occasionally just glimpsed in the distance.
